Assalamu alaykum.
As Muslims, Allah (subhaanahu wa’taala) tells us all, both men and women, that we should look after our bodies and stay healthy.
One of the ways to stay healthy is having cancer screening, because it’s a way of checking that your body is free from cancer.
As long as your screening is done by another female who is respectful of your privacy, then it’s acceptable within Islam.

Assalamu alaykum. It’s Ash and Zahid from the workshops.
Thanks for attending.
We just wanted to remind you to do three things:
Firstly, please, can you talk to six women about why cancer screening is so important?
And if they need help, please support them.
They may not have been able to find time or they may not think it’s important.
Secondly, can you ask these women to fill in the survey that’s on this website?
It’s very short and it’d help us a lot with this research.
Thank you.
And thirdly, I know we’re all busy people, but please, can you respond to the text messages we send you so that we know how it’s all going?
Your role is so important.
And remember, we’re always here to support you.

Assalamu alaykum. I’m Aliya.
I’ve had screening for breast, cervical and bowel cancer, and I’m so glad I’ve had all of them.
Whenever I get a letter for breast or for cervical cancer screening, naturally I feel worried.
But I just ring the number that’s in the letter and I make an appointment.
I’ve always been examined by a female and there’s never any pain involved.
And for bowel cancer screening, I was sent a pack with instructions so I could do it myself at home.
It’s very simple.
Remember, if cancer’s picked up early, it can be treated.
